Imminent flooding over the coming days
Lachute, April 15, 2026 – Given the rise in water levels over the past few hours, the Ville de Lachute is closely monitoring the evolution of flooding within its territory. According to the latest weather forecasts, flooding is imminent over the coming days. However, it remains difficult to predict the exact extent of these floods.
Ville de Lachute strongly encourages residents of areas that are usually affected by flooding to prepare accordingly and to take advantage of the sandbag filling stations made available to them.
The sandbag filling stations are located at the following street corners:
- Bellingham and Filion
- Clyde and Meikle
- Harriet and Filion
- Chemin Bord-de-l’Eau
Ville de Lachute invites the population to follow its publications for regular updates.

In the event of a municipal emergency, dial 311 (available 24/7). 911 should be used for emergencies other than municipal emergencies

Closure of rue Principale - April 13-17, 2026
Lachute, April 10, 2026 – Ville de Lachute would like to inform residents of the closure of rue Principale, in both eastbound ansd westbound directions, between avenue d’Argenteuil and avenue Barron. The closure will take place both day and night, from April 13 to 17 inclusive.
Detour routes will be implemented to facilitate local traffic via avenue Barron, rue Robert, rue Lafleur and avenue d’Argenteuil. Please respect temporary signage and reduce your speed within the construction zone.
Ville de Lachute encourages residents to plan their travel accordingly and to avoid the downtown area as much as possible.
Access to businesses and buildings within the closure area will remain available during the work. Residents may request access from flaggers at the intersection of rue Principale and avenue d’Argenteuil to enter City Hall and businesses parking lots.
Pedestrian access to buildings located near the construction site will be maintained at all times.
Ville de Lachute, in collaboration with the contractor, will do everything possible to limit the negative impacts these works may have on residents and merchants in the area.

Water Service Interruption and Boil Water Advisory
August 22, 2025 - 1:30 PM
Lachute, August 22, 2025 – Ville de Lachute wishes to inform residents that work on the water distribution network will cause a water service interruption on Tuesday, in the Tuesday, August 26 for the entire day following area:
- McGibbon Street
- Avenue de la Providence, between Rodrigue street and Hamford street
A precautionary boil water advisory will then be in effect for the same area.
Boil Water Advisory
During the boil water advisory, you must boil your water for 1 minute before consuming it. Tap water may be colored. In such cases, it is suggested to open the cold water taps and let the water run until it becomes clear before consuming it.
Lifting of the Boil Water Advisory
Ville de Lachute will notify affected residents as soon as the boil water advisory is lifted.
Ville de Lachute is aware of the inconvenience that this work may cause. Please be assured that all necessary measures will be taken to minimize the impact.

WATER INTERRUPTION NOTICE FOLLOWED BY BOILING WATER ADVISORY
February 23, 2025 - 14:00 PM
Ville de Lachute wish to inform the public that a break in the network that occurred earlier today will result in a water interruption for a few hours, until repairs are completed. A preventive boiling water advisory will be in effect starting this Sunday, February 23, and until further notice. This advisory affects residents of the Gauthier Street area.
If you have colored water at home, we recommend letting it run until it becomes clear again before consuming it. We also suggest avoiding doing laundry during this time.

COLORED WATER EPISODES MAY OCCUR

Ville de Lachute advises the population that episodes of colored water may occur on Monday, November 4th, 2024, throughout its territory due to a major fire in the Brownsburg-Chatham area, which is connected to its network.
If you have clouded water at home, we invite you to let it run until it becomes clear again before consuming it and to avoid doing laundry.

Water Service Interruption and Boil Water Advisory

Ville de Lachute would like to inform citizens that due to a water main break, a boil water advisory is now in effect for residents on Main Street (between Boulevard de l’Aéroparc and Simon Street), Larocque Street, and Chatham Street.
Boil tap water for one minute before using. Discolored water should be run until clear. This advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
