Spring Flooding Update: Sandbag Collection Starting Next Week

Lachute, April 24, 2026  – In light of the gradual decrease in water levels and the weather forecast for the coming days, Ville de Lachute wishes to inform residents that it will begin collecting sandbags in the affected areas at the beginning of next week. Citizens are asked to place their sandbags at the curb.


The collected sandbags will be transported to Saint-André-d’Argenteuil to help mitigate the impacts of rising water levels of the Ottawa River in that area.


Ville de Lachute thanks residents for their cooperation. Your assistance is invaluable and will be greatly appreciated by the affected residents of Saint-André-d’Argenteuil.

Notice to Citizens – Closure of rue Bédard, between avenue Bethany et rue Drew, Water Service Disruption and Precautionary Boil Water Advisory

Lachute, May 29, 2026 – Repair work on the water supply network will result in the closure of rue Bédard, between avenue Bethany and rue Drew, as well as a disruption of water service on Tuesday, June 2, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect following the water shutoff. Ville de Lachute will notify you as soon as the boil water advisory is lifted.

 

During the entire duration of the boil water advisory, you must boil your water for one minute before consuming it. Tap water may appear discolored. In such cases, it is recommended to open cold water taps and let the water run until it becomes clear before consumption. We also suggest avoiding doing laundry.

 

Local traffic will be permitted. Please respect the construction signage that will be in place.

 

Ville de Lachute is aware of the inconvenience these works may cause. Please rest assured that all necessary measures will be taken to minimize the impacts.

Water Service Interruption and Boil Water Advisory

August 22, 2025 - 1:30 PM

Lachute, August 22, 2025 – Ville de Lachute wishes to inform residents that work on the water distribution network will cause a water service interruption on Tuesday, in the Tuesday, August 26 for the entire day following area:

 

  • McGibbon Street
  • Avenue de la Providence, between Rodrigue street and Hamford street

 

A precautionary boil water advisory will then be in effect for the same area.

 

Boil Water Advisory

During the boil water advisory, you must boil your water for 1 minute before consuming it. Tap water may be colored. In such cases, it is suggested to open the cold water taps and let the water run until it becomes clear before consuming it.

 

Lifting of the Boil Water Advisory

Ville de Lachute will notify affected residents as soon as the boil water advisory is lifted.

Ville de Lachute is aware of the inconvenience that this work may cause. Please be assured that all necessary measures will be taken to minimize the impact.

WATER INTERRUPTION NOTICE FOLLOWED BY BOILING WATER ADVISORY

February 23, 2025 - 14:00 PM 

Ville de Lachute wish to inform the public that a break in the network that occurred earlier today will result in a water interruption for a few hours, until repairs are completed. A preventive boiling water advisory will be in effect starting this Sunday, February 23, and until further notice. This advisory affects residents of the Gauthier Street area.

 

If you have colored water at home, we recommend letting it run until it becomes clear again before consuming it. We also suggest avoiding doing laundry during this time.

Ville de Lachute advises the population that episodes of colored water may occur on Monday, November 4th, 2024, throughout its territory due to a major fire in the Brownsburg-Chatham area, which is connected to its network.

 

If you have clouded water at home, we invite you to let it run until it becomes clear again before consuming it and to avoid doing laundry.

Ville de Lachute would like to inform citizens that due to a water main break, a boil water advisory is now in effect for residents on Main Street (between Boulevard de l’Aéroparc and Simon Street), Larocque Street, and Chatham Street.

 

Boil tap water for one minute before using. Discolored water should be run until clear. This advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
